Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second layer of security to your Breet account. Once enabled, you'll need to verify your identity each time you log in and before completing any debit transaction (Naira withdrawals, USD withdrawals, GHS withdrawals, Buy Crypto, and bill payments).
Breet supports two MFA methods: Email OTP and Authenticator App.
Enable Email OTP
Tap "Profile" on the Home screen.
Tap "Security Settings".
Tap "MFA Authentication".
Toggle on "Email OTP".
Enter the verification code sent to your registered email address.
Tap "Submit".
Email OTP is now active on your account.
Please Note: Once enabled, you'll be asked for an email OTP on every login and before every debit transaction, including Naira withdrawals, USD withdrawals, GHS withdrawals, Buy Crypto, and bill payments.
Enable Authenticator App
Before you begin, download an authenticator app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator or Authy).
Tap "Profile" on the Home screen.
Tap "Security Settings".
Tap "MFA Authentication".
Tap "Continue" on the MFA Authentication screen.
Scan the QR code displayed with your authenticator app. Alternatively, tap "Copy" next to the Time-Based Setup Key and paste it manually into your app.
Tap "Continue". Enter the one-time code from your authenticator app to complete setup.
Save the 10 recovery codes displayed. Each code works only once. Tap "Download" or "Copy" to save them, then check "I have saved these codes in a safe place" and tap "Continue".
After setup, you'll need to enter an authentication code from your app (or one of your 10-digit recovery codes) to authorise transactions in the app.
Please Note: Recovery codes each work only once. Store them somewhere safe. If you lose access to your authenticator app and no longer have your recovery codes, contact our team via in-app chat or at support@breet.app.
Disable MFA
Tap "Profile" on the Home screen.
Tap "Security Settings".
Tap "Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)".
Toggle off your active authentication method (Authenticator App or Email OTP).
Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app or email.
Tap "Submit".
MFA is now disabled on your account.
Please Note: Disabling MFA reduces your account security. We recommend keeping at least one MFA method active at all times.
